Beaches
There are a wide variety of beaches within easy reach.
Marros Sands
Our nearest beach by foot, including access to the Wales Coastal Path. Access to Amroth along the beach at low tide, backed by impressive cliffs.
Amroth
Our nearest beach by road, a mile long stretch of flat sands backed by cobbles and sea wall with footpath. The official starting point of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path (part of the Wales Coastal Path). Village includes pubs, cafes, parking and public toilets.
Wiseman’s Bridge
A wide but rocky foreshore backed by a pebble bank and limited parking. Care is needed to get to the sea at low tide as you have to clamber over the rocks and cross the large streams.
Saundersfoot
A beautiful sandy sheltered beach in a curved bay with pretty harbour, backed by a bustling village with most amenities.
Tenby North Beach
One of Tenby’s many benefits is its two beaches, so one or other is almost always sheltered. North beach is closest to the town centre and includes the iconic harbour.
Tenby South Beach
In excess of a mile of golden sands backed by soft dunes and the local golf course. Overlooks Caldey Island and includes the mobile jetty for boat trips to and around the island.
Attractions
Far too many to list individually but here are some we favour.
Colby Woodland Garden (National Trust)
4 miles from West Cottage. Lovely gardens within a south facing valley, walled garden, azaleas, tearooms. A lovely way to walk to Amroth.
Carew Castle & Tidal Mill
12 miles from West Cottage. An easy walk around the estate and tidal pool, plus exploring the castle. Nice café in walled garden.
National Botanic Garden of Wales
24 miles from West Cottage. Worthy of a full day to get the most out of a visit. A further 7.5 miles gets you to Aberglasney Botanical Garden.
Picton Castle Gardens
15 miles from West Cottage. A grand stately home set in 60 acres of beautiful gardens and grounds. Includes The Welsh Owl Garden and Zoo, shop, gallery, café and restaurant. A great day out for all ages.

7 miles from West Cottage. 120 acres of family fun including over 750 animals, a petting barn, 17 different rides in the vintage fairground and an adventure play area.
National Garden Scheme
Many open gardens within a 20 mile radius of West Cottage, some open all year round and others on request. Fabulous gardens, avid gardeners and great cake makers!
Towns & Villages
Tenby
11 miles from West Cottage. Pembrokeshire’s premier resort. Known for its sandy beaches, iconic harbour, 13th century town walls, lifeboat station, shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. Very popular during the summer although we prefer it out of season.
Saundersfoot
8 miles from West Cottage. Smaller and quieter than Tenby but equally inviting. At busy times try parking at Wiseman’s Bridge or Coppet Hall and walk into the village through tunnels along the old tramway (now part of the Coastal Path).
Narberth
10 miles from West Cottage. Compact and bustling small town with an abundance of independent shops and eateries. Less busy than the coastal resorts but a lovely place to buy things that you don’t need but definitely want!
